Robert E. Lee Sr.
Robert E. Lee, Sr. Kingston, WA April 28, 1941 to Aug. 17, 2018 Robert E. Lee Sr., of Kingston, WA passed away at 1:03 am on 8-17-18 following a brief illness. Robert (Bobby) Lee was born on April 28, 1941 in Brooklyn New York to Edward Porter Lee and Mary Elizabeth Lee. He joined the Navy when he was just 17 and married his first wife Merrily A. Lee and had three children, Robert (Red), Catherine, and Michael Lee. He began his service on the Cubera and ended it on the Simon Lake and he retired as Command Master Chief. Bobby married Denise (Deni) Lee on October 31st, 1986 adding two step-sons, Derek and Ryan Knutson, and brother-in-law, Kim Matthews and his wife, Angela. He completed his MBA at 57 years old and became an instructor at several Colleges until he worked as Regional Director for SIU retiring at 71 to care for his wife, Deni Lee until she passed one year ago. Robert loved his family and friends. He volunteered and shared his gifts and many blessings to the local community through the Kiwanis, Boys and Girls Club, Kingston Chamber of Commerce, and was Former Commodore with the Kingston Yacht Club where he had many friends and adventures. He is survived by his brothers, Richard, John (Jackie), Elizabeth (Betsy) and Jimmy Lee, his son Michael D. Lee and his wife, Lenora Lee, and daughter, Catherine E. (Lee) Stinson, step-sons, Derek and Ryan Knutson, grandchildren, Michael Casterline, Jessa and Tyler Lee, Anthony and Brandon Stinson, Tessa, Taggart, and Tallon Knutson, Terry Lee Gilmer, Sarah May, and Katie Hile, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Robert E. Lee Jr., his ex-wife, Merrily Lee, and his wife, Deni Lee, and his parents. A Memorial Mass will be at 12 o'clock pm September 29th at St. Olafs Church in Poulsbo, WA with reception afterward in the hall of the church, followed by a Celebration of Life at approximately 4:00 pm at the Kingston Yacht Club in Kingston, WA. In lieu of flowers please send donations to ALS and the Cancer Society.
