Mary L. Kocher, age 95, of Painted Post, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at home. She was born on March 6, 1923 in Avoca, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Hayden and Sarah (Warren) Francis. She married Lloyd M. Scutt in October of 1942. He passed away on August 23, 1944. She later married William F. Kocher on October 12, 1946. He predeceased her on February 18, 1980. Mary was a dedicated Christian, she enjoyed reading the bible, loved spending time with family, knitting, crocheting, and reading. She loved her desserts, especially chocolate. She is survived by her children, Sharon (David) Sutherland of Canton, Ohio, William (Maryalice) Kocher of Hammondsport, Marsha (Chet) Tuttle of Corning, and Mark (Jackie) Kocher of Painted Post, grandchildren, Chet Sutherland, Eric (Toni) Sutherland, Kevin (Lori) Kocher, Karen (Tom) Cole, Darlene (Aaron) Richard, Amy (Richard) Sluszka, Audrey Tuttle, Chet (Krista) Tuttle, Sarah (John) Marone, Fred Tuttle, and Rainer (Lauren Cain) Kocher, 20 great grandchildren, one great great grandson, several nieces and nephews, and canine companion, Smokey. Mary was predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth, Wilbur, Florence, Marshall, Jane, and Donald. It was Mary's wish that there be no visitation hours. A private celebration of Mary's life will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Chapel Knoll Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to Corning Meals on Wheels, Inc., 144 Cedar Street, Corning, NY 14830.
