Brenda (Williams) Kain
Brenda Williams Kain, a long-time resident of the Shenandoah Valley, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Consulate Healthcare Center. Born in 1947 in Winchester, Virginia, Brenda grew up in Woodstock and graduated from Central High School, after becoming Miss Shenandoah County Fair Queen in 1964. Brenda's vocation was social work, in which she assisted many in receiving much needed aid, medical coverage and protective services. She retired from the Frederick County Social Service Department and remained in Stephens City, Virginia for many years. Brenda loved horseback riding, traveling, socializing and swimming, but her favorite activity was spending time with her family. She entertained her grandchildren at home and attended to her many nieces and nephews as often as possible. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Berrey Murphy and her spouse David, and her son, Thomas Jonathon (T.J.) Berrey; three grandchildren, Tucker F. Murphy and wife Sydni, Caten D. Murphy, and McKinley E. Murphy; and two great grandchildren, Rhegan L. Murphy and Kenna L. Murphy. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon L. Hollar and spouse Harold; and her brother, Dennis E. Williams. Brenda has numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom brought great joy to her throughout her life. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, B. Earl and Estelle (Mitzi) Williams. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Woodstock Presbyterian Church, 142 E. Court Street, Woodstock, VA. Interment to follow in Sunset View Cemetery, Woodstock, VA. Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, VA.
