Richard B. Westbrook Passed away peacefully on September 5, 2018 (age 87), in his home in Washington, DC, with his children by his side. He was the loving father of a son and daughter, Richard H. Westbrook (Julia) and Catherine J. Westbrook (Bill). He was blessed with three grandchildren, Seneca, Paige and Quinn. He was born September 19, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN to Robert B. Westbrook and Jane Howe Westbrook. He moved to Washington at age 9. He graduated from Western High School in 1949 and Wilson Teachers College in 1954 and received a MS from University of Wisconsin in Geography in 1956. He served in the DC Air National Guard and the US Air Force. He worked as a city planner for both the National Capital Planning Commission and Arlington County. He loved DC and spent most of his adult life in Southwest Washington, where he was an active member of the community, which included serving as an ANC commissioner. After retiring, Richard became a licensed Washington, DC tour guide. He loved sharing the beauty of DC with the city's many visitors. An avid photographer, he enjoyed documenting the evolution of the city and the people in it. Services and interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
