Deanna Lea Dowdy Theiss
Deanna Lea Dowdy Theiss Deanna, age 70, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2018. Born in Moscow, Idaho, Deanna was the first born to Harold and Vera Dowdy. Deanna grew up in Kirkland and graduated from the University of Washington, where she met the love of her life, Duane Theiss. The couple was married in 1971 and raised a family in Mountlake Terrace. Deanna loved gardening, sailing, visiting the ocean, dogs and spending time with family. Her great gift was caring for others. She had a 34 year nursing career which started at Virginia Mason Hospital in 1970. Deanna retired as Director of Patient Care Services at Regional Hospital in 2004. She also played a critical role in the care of her parents and husband. Deanna is survived by sons Michael Theiss (Janice), Bryan Theiss (Jen), daughter Krista Thrift (Jessica), grandsons Levi, Otto and Memphis, sister Laurie Jill Stone (Terry), and brother John Dowdy. A memorial service to celebrate Deanna's life will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in Seattle on September 15, 2018 at 3 PM.
