In memory of
John Franklin Robert
John Franklin Robert July 13, 1921 ~ August 13, 2018 John passed away peacefully in his sleep. The eldest son of Paul Leon Robert and Elizabeth Muryl Riggin Cable of Bloomington, IL, he attended Franklin Elementary, Bloomington High (1939), and IL State University in Normal, IL. He and his brothers Forest, James, and Austin lost their mother at a young age due to diabetes. The "Robert boys" grew to be good men who worked hard, cherished their families, and valued their faith. They remained close throughout adulthood as they raised their nice large families on the West Coast. John served in the Merchant Marines from June of 1942 until World War II ended. He worked for the Seattle School district for 30+ years. John married Frances Duncan on February 8, 1946. They filled their 59 years of marriage with raising 5 children in the Kirkland area, family outings, and trips in their "5th wheel." In his later years John kept busy with walks in downtown Kirkland and reading. He also enjoyed visits with his children and grandchildren, fellows at Merrill Gardens, and friends at church. He was well-loved by all who knew him for his sharp wit, colorful stories, wisdom gained through surviving many hardships, and his strong and steadfast faith.
