Juanita M. Smith 1931 - 2018 Springfield, IL—Juanita M. Smith, 87, of Springfield, was called home Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Heritage Health. She was born February 24, 1931 in Springfield to Charles Edward and Bertha Helen Jeffers Coffey and they preceded her in death. She married John J. Smith in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Jean Racila of Springfield, two sons: John David (companion, MaryAngela Wheeler) Smith of Wilmington, NC and Robert Duane (Rosemary) Smith of Shiloh, IL, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, sister, Joyce Marie Barker of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Juanita was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was a technician at McFarland Mental Health Center retiring after 24 years of service and was a school bus driver for Laidlaw for 10 years. Juanita was a member of Riverton Christian Church. She was a wonderful baker, loved anything Disney and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters: Mildred M. Thomas and Helen L. Rheude and three brothers: Lawrence E. and Clifford E. Coffey and Arthur Jeffers. Visitation: 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Monday, September 10, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. A second visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Riverton Christian Church. Funeral: 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Riverton Christian Church with Pastor Brian Atwell officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
