Our beloved mom and grammy, Marjorie L. Papenfuse Henderson, 87, of Jacksonville, N.C. has gone to her eternal resting place to be with Jesus. Marge was born in Adrian, Michigan on June 26, 1931. She met the love of her life, Donald B. Papenfuse on August 19, 1950. They spent the next 20 years living and raising eight children aboard USMC military installations. In 1973, she opened the U.S. Navy Alcohol Rehab Unit at Camp Lejeune and was the program director for 20 years. She dedicated her life to helping others achieve sobriety through the AA program. She said, "Being a mother is my greatest accomplishment!" She loved family gatherings, especially the Fourth of July celebrations in the backyard, Christmas and Thanksgiving. Singing with her children, crafts, and gardening were some of her favorite pastimes She was very talented and good at drawing and calligraphy. Mom loved the beach, but her heart was in the mountains. She is survived by her eight children, Tim, Laurie, Paul, Sue, Matt, Beth, Mary and Pat, 33 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. We are having a CELEBRATION OF LIFE service at Enon Chapel Baptist church at 2 p.m. Saturday September 15, 2018 In lieu of flowers, mom requested that a donation be made to her favorite charity, the local Salvation Army. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.
