NORTH CLARENDON - Myrta C. "Birdie" Pitts, 94, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. She was born March 17, 1924, in Middle Granville, New York, the daughter of Alson David and Sadie (Whitney) Stone. She married Reginald A. Pitts May 2, 1942, in Rutland. Mrs. Pitts was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed listening to country and Polish music and watching comedies. Survivors include her son, Ronald "Ronnie" Pitts, of North Clarendon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene Stone, of North Carolina; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Nov. 2, 2010; a son, William Pitts, March 1, 2006; and a daughter, Mae Derby, Dec. 26, 2016. Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Tossing Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jon Stratton, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 81 Center St., Rutland, VT 05701.
