CUMBERLAND- Joseph A. Martin, 76, formerly of Keyser, WV, died Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Chamberlain Graceful Assisted Living Center in Cumberland, MD. Born on September 4, 1942 at Keyser, WV, he was a son of the late John Thomas Martin, Sr. and Viola (Bennett) Martin. He also was preceded in death by his life partner, Anna "Susie" See; two sisters, Violet Hubbard and Pansy Martin and five brothers, Edward "Pete," Ralph, Franklin, Ernest and Albert Martin. Mr. Martin was employed by the City of Keyser for 22 years. He served in the United States Army during both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He was a member of both the Southern Baptist Church, in Keyser and Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumberland. Surviving are his daughter, Kelly Martin of Frostburg, MD; a granddaughter, Madeline Trembly Wilburn; a brother, Rev. John T. Martin, Jr. of Petersburg, WV; a sister, Rose Pyle of Burlington, WV; a special sister-in-law, Wilma Martin of Ripley, WV and 24 nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Leatherman, Rev. Donna Leatherman and Pastor Tom Roach officiating. Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
