In memory of
James Schott (Jim, Dad, Grampy, Great Grampy) passed on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, 4 days after celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary, after a long battle with cancer. Jim was born on Christmas Eve in 1932 in Marquette, Iowa to Lloyd and Rose Schott. He grew up on the Mississippi river and loved fishing and sports. He joined the Navy, and served with the VP-18 patrol squadron on deployments in Iceland, Newfoundland and Africa. He received his BSEE from Iowa State, Married Gertrude (Todd), moved east to raise a family in Ashland, Massachusetts. He was an engineer's engineer, receiving a MSEE from Northeastern and working in the defense, space, and health industries. Jim and Todd retired to Englewood Florida 20 years ago where he loved traveling the world, fishing, boating, sunsets and cocktail hour at their dock on Forked Creek, playing on the over-70, then over-80 softball leagues and visits from family. He leaves behind his wife Gertrude (Todd); four children, Steven, Traci, David, and Mike; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his springer spaniel Cassidy; many friends, and will be missed by all. Jim didn't want any special services, just to be remembered for living a great life with a great family.
