Marjorie Baldree Thornton
HAVELOCK - Mrs. Marjorie Baldree Thornton, 94, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Crystal Coast Hospice House. A native of Lenoir County, Marjorie spent most of her life in Havelock. With a strong work ethic, Marjorie worked as the clerk for the Town of Havelock before becoming the bookkeeper for Gene Jackson and his companies for whom she worked until retiring at age 81. She was a faithful member of Cherry Point United Methodist Church, until she was no longer able to attend. Her family is what she cherished most. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Baldree, her sister, Helen Earl Taylor, and the love of her life, her husband A.C. "Ed" Thornton. The family will receive friends 10-11:00 AM, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Havelock, followed by the service at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Jim Pegan officiating. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Shawn Thornton, of Fayetteville, Tifanie Kingston, and husband Bill, of Kill Devil Hills, Erin Isgett, and husband David, of Raleigh, Erik Thornton of Raleigh; and her four great grandchildren, Elise, Joshua, Leah, and Hannah.
