DODGE CITY - Lauro Bañuelos Mercado, died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Trinity Manor in Dodge City. He was born September 16, 1952 in Zacatecas, Mexico the son of Tomas and Antemia (Mercado) Bañuelos. In 1983 he moved from Wichita to Dodge City. He worked for Cargill for 30 years in both Wichita and Dodge City and later for National Beef retiring in May of 2011. He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. Lauro loved being with his family, entertaining and cooking for people. On March 16, 1973 he married Socorro De La Torre at Los Angeles, California. She survives. Other survivors include: his son, Eberardo Bañuelos, Kansas City; 3 daughters, Claudia Saldivar and husband Alfonso, Diana Loera and husband Omar and Angelica Miranda and husband Jorge all of Dodge City; his father, Tomas Bañuelos, Wichita; 5 brothers, Enrique Bañuelos, California, Absalon Bañuelos, Eduardo Bañuelos, Primio Bañuelos and Octavio Bañuelos all of Wichita; 4 sisters, Maria Martinez, California, Rosa Bañuelos, Ignacia Castañeda, and Doralba Retaña, all of Wichita: 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Antemia Mercado and one sister Godeleba Bañuelos. Vigil service will be 7:00 pm Friday, September 7, 2018 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe with Fr. Aneesh Parappanattu presiding. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
