Gilbert Joseph (Vincent) Pieper
Gilbert Joseph Vincent Pieper, 79, of Moscow Mills, passed away on Aug. 23, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 21, 1939 in St. Charles to Edwin and Antoinette (Hepperman) Pieper. Gilbert attended the local schools along with his siblings; Lorraine, Marcella, Alfred and Laverne. He was a hard worker and had worked on the family farm as long as he could remember. Gilbert enjoyed working on his land and took great pride in it. On April 14, 1984 Cathy Schieffer and Gilbert were united in marriage at New Galilee Christian Church in Winfield. He was a member of Local # 32 Carpenters Union and had been a drywaller for over 50 years. Gilbert was a member of First Christian Church in Troy. He loved fishing, building furniture and spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite evenings were spent watching the St. Louis Cardinals with a cold Budweiser in his hand. His vegetable gardens were legendary ,and the sweet corn was delicious! Gilbert was a true family man and always had a grandchild or great-grandchild nearby. He is survived by his beloved wife Cathy Pieper of Moscow Mills; five children Phyllis and husband Dan Beaster of Jackson, Mich., Terry and wife Tami Pieper of Friedheim , Lisa and husband Steve Wolff of Flint Hill, Nathan Hensen of Bowling Green, Amy and husband Tim Young of Troy; 15 grandchildren Tami (Steve) Hessling, Kari (Marcello) Hernandez, Brandon Beaster, Alisha Beaster, Jason (Kim) Pieper, Joe (Penny) Pieper, Jim Pieper, Josh (Amanda) Earnest, Jami Wolff, Kristin Wolff, Chris Hensen, Hannah Hensen, Hayden Hensen, Tyler Young, Caryle Young; 10 great-grandchildren Aubrey Hessling, Kayden Hessling, Jenner Beaster, Zoey Beaster, Elizabeth Stander, Ariana Hernandez, Annalise Hernandez, William Pieper, Colin Earnest, Mia Earnest, siblings; Lorraine (Tom) Wilmes of Josephville, Marcello Abrolot of Marthasville, Alfred (Etta) Pieper of OFallon, Laverne (Bob) Stuckey of Troy and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Theodore Pieper, brothers-in-law Ron Schieffer , and Karl Abrolat Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 from 2 - 8 p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory 1304 Boone Street Troy. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 from 9:30- 10 a.m. at First Christian Church -Troy Funeral was held Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 at 10 a.m. First Christian Church of Troy 1302 Boone Street Troy. Rev. Dr. Jeff Moore officiated.
