Ernest "Joe" Gagnon
Ernest "Joe" Gagnon, 82, of Venice, Florida passed away at his home on Aug. 21, 2018. He attended Westford Academy and graduated from Northeastern University. He is survived by his wife Ellen (McBurney) of 64 years. Joe served in the US Marine Corps for nine years before becoming a police officer. He retired as Chief of Police in the town of Wellesley, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Massachusetts, New England and International Association of the Chiefs of Police and the Blue Knights. He was also active in the Kiwanis Club of Wellesley, Wellesley Club, the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, VFW, and the American Legion. Joe had many interests that he shared with family and friends. He was an avid photographer and loved working on his computer along with the love of golf, motorcycling, traveling, great stories and a colorful sense of humor. He is also survived by his son, Daniel Gagnon of Concord, New Hampshire; daughter, Cheryl Dosdall (Jeff) of Wellesley, Massachusetts; son, Francis Gagnon (Barbara) of Natick Massachusetts; daughter, Catherine Smith of Dudley, Massachusetts; sister, Ellen O'Clair (Sam) of Westford, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Robert(Samira), Krystel, Andrew (Laura), Laura (John), Ashely, Michael and Christian; and 10 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Elijah, Ryan, Dylan, Layla, Grayson, Everleigh, Shane, Sydney and Jackson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Aline Gagnon of Westford Massachusetts. Celebration of life for Joe will be held at a later date.
