Lockport, NY  – Carol Piech, 74, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late James Piech; loving mother of Kristen Piech-Dumas (Paul), Kathleen Piech-Lukas (James), and the late Suzanne Crane and Joseph Piech; and grandmother to Andrew, James, Michael and Christopher. Loving sister of James (Jerri) Mowry, Margaret (Timothy) O’Leary and the late Robert Mowry. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born in Buffalo, NY, to Wilfred and Margaret (Space) Mowry, she grew up in the area and graduated from West Seneca High School in 1961. After graduating from Buffalo State College with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1965, she married her husband of 51 years and began work as a special education teacher at Harris Hill. After spending time at home raising her four children, Carol served as the Director of Religious Education at St. Bridget’s Church (now St. Brendan's on the Lake) for 20 years, until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of the Town of Lockport Historical Society, Compassionate Friends and Newfane Community Food Pantry. Her greatest joy in her twilight years was spending time with her grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 27 from 4-8pm at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home Inc., 2670 Main Street, Newfane. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, August 28 at 12 noon at St. Brendan's on the Lake Church, 3455 Ewings Road, Newfane. Burial will follow at St. Matthews Cemetery in West Seneca. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newfane Community Food Pantry, located at 3455 Ewings Road in Newfane.
