In memory of
Dolores Marie Slusarz
Dolores Marie Slusarz 1929 - 2018 Dolores M. Slusarz, 88, beloved wife of the late Adam Slusarz of Everett, WA, died suddenly, of natural causes, on July 19, 2018, at her home in Hermosa Beach, CA. A funeral mass and memorial reception will be held on September 14th at 2pm at St. James Catholic Church, Redondo Beach, CA. Dolores' love, humor, curiosity, and endurance will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. She loved family, floral gardens, and the beauty of nature. In her memory, enjoy these. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Adam, her youngest son, David, her brother John, and son-in-law Lewis Bremer. She is survived by her sisters Frances Spernak, Rita Brown and Patricia Schoennagel, of CT; her children Karen Slusarz, Elizabeth Bremer, Mark Slusarz, and Bennet Slusarz of CA; and Teresa (Paul) McKee and Jessica (Ron) Burt of WA; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dolores was born in Bridgeport, CT, in August 1929, daughter of the late John and Margaret Gergley. She graduated from Stratford High School in CT, and the Aviation Training School in Boston, MA. She served as a stewardess with Colonial Airlines, until she married, in 1952, and moved to the west coast. She and Adam raised their family in Hermosa Beach, CA, until 1972, then in Everett, WA. Dolores returned to Hermosa Beach in 2015. In addition to mothering seven children, Dolores developed a career, working both in small private businesses and in aerospace, as an executive assistant. She loved traveling when she could. In retirement, after providing many years of Parkinson's care for Adam, she shared in vacations with her children in the western states, Hawaii, and the east coast, as well as to Canada, Mexico and Europe. She achieved the goal of visiting her ancestral homelands of Hungary and the Czech Republic in 2016. In Everett, she was active in her church, St. Mary Magdalen, and with the Boeing Bluebills. Dolores took her greatest pleasure in being a mom and grandmother. She made many thousands of the best school-lunches, cooked healthy meals from scratch, and baked fabulous traditional treats. She was a great party-clown in full costume, and always something different for Halloween. In her final years, she astounded younger people, at her local gym or on long walks, with her strength and stamina. She had the fortune of vitality until her last moment; a woman with a great laugh, lots of love, keen interest, a creative spirit, pride, and gumption. Cheers, Dee! Cheers to you, Mom!
