VISTA, Calif. - James B. Dodds, 74, of Vista, CA passed away peacefully on July 18 under hospice care at Ryan House in Phoenix, AZ following a seven-year tenacious battle against cancer. Born August 28, 1943 in Wellsville, NY, he was a son of Robert B and Virginia Harder Dodds. Mr. Dodds graduated from Wellsville High School in 1961 and attended college at the University of Oklahoma, studying Financial Marketing. Following college Jim resided in New York City for a number of years working for Clairol and the NFL before relocating to San Diego. From an early age Jim developed a passion for sailing which continued throughout his life. His happiest memories were of being on a sailboat with family and friends and taking nieces and nephews on sailing/camping trips up the St. Lawrence. Surviving are a brother, Dr. William B. Dodds of Durango, CO and two sisters, Carol Dodds Collins of Columbus, OH and Linda Dodds Phillips of Greer, SC; 11 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to Kelley Phillips and Scott and Aimee Phillips for the love, attention and extraordinary support to Jim during his long battle with cancer. A celebration of Jim's life is planned at Point Loma, CA at a future date.
