Mary (Kempf) Monnig
Mary Monnig, 68, of Glasgow, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, July 26, 2018. Born Mary Agnes Kempf August 31, 1949, she grew up in Boonville, the daughter of Harold and Mary Ann Kempf. She married George Monnig and dedicated herself to creating a family in Glasgow where they shared 39 years of marriage and raised four sons. Mary was an active member of her community and would happily volunteer at the American Legion Auxiliary, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, served on the Glasgow Senior Center Board as well as give her time to the Daughters of Isabella and Council of Catholic Women. Her family and friends are comforted by Mary's devotion to the Catholic Church. They will remember her most for her genuine love for her friends, her devotion to her family, and her selfless generosity which will be forever with us. Survived by her father Harold Kempf and by her sons; Mitch (Gina) Monnig of Glasgow, Kyle (Melissa Wilson) Monnig of O'Fallon, Kelly (Melissa Moser) Monnig of Glasgow, and Nick (Julie) Monnig of Glasgow. Ten grandchildren which she adored; Haley, Krista, Parker, Xavier, Luke, Lane, Tucker, Maclin, Annalise and Walker, six brothers; Darryl (Nancy) Kempf, of Boonville, Jerry (Denise) Kempf, of Columbia, Chris (Roylene) Kempf, of Boonville, Charlie Kempf, of Texas, John (Cheryl) Kempf, of Boonville, Greg (Lana) Kempf, of Boonville, three sisters; Linda (Eddie) Wassmann, of Boonville, Carol (John) Stupica, of Lee's Summit, Elaine (Mike)Campbell, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and sister-in-law Candy Kempf, of Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael J, who died in infancy; her husband, mother, and brother David Kempf. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Monday evening, July 30 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 4:30 p.m. , before the visitation, and a prayer service will be held immediately following the visitation at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Monnig will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 31 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow, with Fr. Paul Hartley officiating. Burial will follow the funeral mass.
