Claude A. Blackiston
Claude A. Blackiston, 74 of Millington, Maryland, died July 27, 2018 in Compass Regional Hospice Center, Centreville, Maryland. Mr. Blackiston was born on September 21, 1943, son of the late Claude A. and Daisy Manlove Blackiston, Sr. He was raised in Sassafras, Maryland and was a graduate of Galena High School. He furthered his education, obtaining a degree in accounting from Goldey Beacom. In 1964 he relocated to Wilmington, Delaware, where his career began as a CPA, working for New Castle County Schools. He later worked as the finance officer for Cecil County and for Kent County Public Schools, retiring in 2008. Claude was a member of the Delmarva Sportsman Assoc., Millington Lions Club and the Queen Anne's County Sheriff Auxiliary. He enjoyed community service, fishing, target shooting, playing cards and riding his motorcycle. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Sue Blackiston and Ann Siter. Mr. Blackiston is survived by his wife of 28 years, Donna M. Blackiston; son Thomas J. Blackiston; step-daughter, Kristen Graham (Peter); 9 siblings, Thomas Blackiston (Sally), Mary Lou Newsome, A. Eugene Blackiston (Gloria), Janet Riblett, Lois K. Kemkowski (William), George D. Blackiston (Ruth), Rebecca Weaver (Robert), Donna Otwell and James K. Blackiston and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on August 1 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, Maryland, where funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Massey Cemetery.
