George Larry Simons Delmar - George Larry Simons, 75, of Delmar, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, where he had resided for almost three years. He was born on February 22, 1943 in Monkton, Maryland, a son of the late Lonnie and Pauline Simons. George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for the Sweetheart Cup Company for 23 years and then worked for Imperial Cup Company until his retirement. He was a longtime member and head usher of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Laurel. He enjoyed going fishing, watching television, and spending time with his wife. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Gladys J. Simons of Delmar; children, Ricky Simons, Kim Wartz, Ronnie Meadows, Donnie Meadows, and Steve Meadows; grandchildren, Stephany, Amanda, Victoria, Amber, Megan, Tiffany, Taylor, Kylie, Jenna, Christopher, and Ashlie; 15 great grandchildren; and brothers, Roger and Ronald Simons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Edward, Robert, Glen, Roy, Frankie, and Richard Simons; and a sister, Nancy Diehl. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Old Stage Road in Laurel. The Reverend Rebecca Rollins will officiate. In memory of Mr. Simons, donations can be made to the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford to benefit the residents by visiting www.vethome.delaware.gov .
