Raymond C. Lundin
Raymond C. Lundin Born: February 4, 1927 Died: June 19, 2018 Raymond C Lundin of Indianapolis IN, formerly of Harvard joined his beloved wife Nancy in heaven on June 19, 2018. Raymond was born February 4, 1927 to Edwin and Nancy Lundin in Yellow Medicine County, MN. Ray grew up on a farm outside Granite Falls MN. He joined the Navy in 1944, serving in the South Pacific as a Gunner's Mate. After being discharged from the Navy, one of Ray's shipmates, Harry Bauman suggested that Ray move to Harvard. Once in Harvard, he worked at Admiral, Calvin's Standard Oil, Planzer's Bakery and Dean Foods, to name a few. It was in Harvard that Raymond met and married Nancy Matthewson and raised their family. After working many years at Dean's Ray and Nancy bought their first motel in Waco TX. They rehabbed, ran and sold motels in Waco TX, Magnolia AR, Monroe LA and Bettendorf IA. After selling their last motel they became resident managers for Budgetel in Florida and Georgia, finally retiring in Indianapolis. Ray loved to travel with his best friend Nancy. They went on cruises and went to visit family and friends in their RV, always heading to Florida for the winter. When he wasn't traveling Ray loved to work in his yard. He was so proud when neighbors walking past would tell him how great his yard looked. He planted many flowers, grew tomatoes and was the guy standing with hose every evening. Ray liked to work on machines. His kids said that if Dad couldn't fix it, it must not be broken. He ran pipe underground from the house to the birdbath so Mom could fill it without leaving the porch. Ray loved having happy hour with family and friends. He loved to talk about growing up on the farm and his service in the Navy. Raymond is survived by his children, Karen (Jim) Sciacca, Michael (Sally) Lundin, Paula Lundin and Lori Hermonson; grandchildren, Derek (Tracy), Jared and Drew Sciacca, Eric (Jen), Lucas and Patrick Hermonson and Nicholas Lundin; great-grandson, Cole Hermonson; brothers, Harold and Todd (Rosa); sister-in-law, Evelyn Lundin; brother-in-law, Harry Mathewson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; granddaughter, Carly Hermonson; sister, Verna Huth; and brothers, Hartford, Glen and Milton. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday July 27 at the First Presbyterian Church of Harvard.
