Oscar Eugene Schaffer
Oscar Eugene Schaffer, 83, of Reading, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at home. He was born July 24, 1934 in St. Marys, Ohio to Edgar Oscar and Hazel Marie (Nevergall) Schaffer. He was a member of the Fremont Moose, Jonesville Eagles, S.C.R.A.P. Tractor Club, the Bench Rest Shooting Club in Delphos, OH and the Lone Rangers Liars Club. Oscar loved anything outside especially hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He enjoyed working with his hands, doing restoration of tractors, cars and trucks, having breakfast at the Lone Ranger in Reading and good times with friends. Oscar is survived by his significant other, Betty Henderson; daughter, Kimberly (Jack) Trott of Reading; son, Tad (Michelle) Schaffer of Reading; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and his dog Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Goldie; sister, Carol and brothers, Jerry and Jim. Funeral services for Oscar Eugene Schaffer will be held Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading with Pastor Don Harkey officiating. Interment will follow in the West Reading Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, July 22 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home.
