Helen T. Gorski
Helen T. Gorski, 92, of Ashley, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018. She was born in Ashley, on Nov. 27, 1925, the daughter of the late John "Ziggy" and Helen Kimsal Gorski. She was a life resident of Ashley. She was a member of the graduating Class of 1943 of Ashley High School. She went on to further her education and graduated from Empire Beauty School, where she later became employed as a cosmetology instructor for more than 20 years. Helen also taught cosmetology at West Side Area Vocational Technical School for more than 20 years, from the school's opening until her retirement. Teaching her students was a great joy in her life. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Sugar Notch, where she participated in many church functions, and was also a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Preceding her in death were her brothers, Joseph and Jerome Gorski, and sister, Hedwig Shantz. Surviving is a brother, Jack Gorski, Hardy, Va. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 828 Main St., Sugar Notch, with the Rev. Joseph Kakareka officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Holy Family Church, 828 Main St., Sugar Notch, PA 18706, or at the funeral home. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Arthur Mitchell and also the entire staff on the second floor at St. Luke's Villa for their excellent and compassionate care.
