Karen Munnelly Devoted wife, sister, aunt; enjoyed winters in Florida Karen L. (Conte) Munnelly, daughter of the late Joseph and Lena Conte, passed away at age 68 on April 30, 2018. Karen was born and raised on Staten Island. An alumna of Curtis High School, she graduated with honors from Staten Island Community College in 1976. She was a claims representative at the Social Security Administration for 35 years until retiring in 2004. Karen is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Thomas J. Munnelly; her sister, Sandra Callahan; brother-in-law, Thomas Callahan; sisters-in-law, Anna Kelly, Florence Oxman; nieces, Kelly Callahan, Dr. Maureen Perry, Kathleen Agpalo, Anne O'Donnell, Mary Petersen, Noreen Cox, Stacie Sergio; and nephews, Anthony Spuches and Brian Callahan. Karen loved ceramics, travel, the Yankees, spending winters in Florida, as well as enjoying time with family and friends. She was a longtime member, deaconess and former clerk of Willowbrook Park Baptist Church. Karen was a former board member of the Curtis High School Association of Alumni & Friends. Karen's life is to be celebrated for who she was and how she lived. For the dreams she followed and the gifts she shared. For the relationships she nurtured and the people she loved. Karen was a special, kind, thoughtful, caring, compassionate person very much loved by family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Those who wish may donate in Karen's name to University Hospice at Staten Island University Hospital or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Family and friends are invited to her memorial service on Saturday, June 16, at 1 p.m., at Willowbrook Park Baptist Church, 1780 Richmond Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10314.
