Agnes Burney, 87 Beloved mother, active in her South Beach community The family of Agnes Burney expresses with deepest sorrow that their beloved mother passed away at the age of 87 on June 8, 2018, at home. Agnes was born in New York City. She lived in the South Beach neighborhood of Staten Island and was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church, attending Mass there weekly. Agnes was very patriotic and was involved in her community, belonging to the South Beach Friendship Club, and loved all the children in the neighborhood. Agnes is survived by her daughter, Theresa; her son, Stephen, as well as grandchildren, Stephen, Joseph, Dayna, Nicholas, and Bryan; brothers, Kenneth and Robert (Connie) Young. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, James, in 1982. Also predeceasing Agnes were her children, Barbara and James, her brother, William Young, and her sister-in-law, Joan (Kennith). A memorial service will be held at Virginia Funeral Chapel on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. On Saturday, June 16, a Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Grasmere.
