ERIE — Anthony Richard "Tony" Paxton, 36, of Franklin and formerly of Hillsdale died Monday, June 4, 2018, near Franklin. Tony was born Jan. 10, 1982, in Silvis, the son of Richard and Elizabeth (Vershaw) Paxton. He graduated from Riverdale High School in the Class of 2000. Tony worked at Reynolds Manufacturing in Jacksonville, home of the "Hefty Bag." Previously, he worked at Tyson in Joslin and, with his brother, Nicholas, in residential gutter applications. Tony had a huge passion for bonfires and spending time with family. He had an amazing sense of hearing and vision, and an uncanny trait that drew children to him. The greatest joys in his life were his two sons. Tony is survived by his parents, Richard "Den" and Elizabeth Paxton of Hillsdale; two sons, Anthony R. Paxton Jr. and Jonathan C. Paxton; a bonus daughter, Hannah E. Bloodgood; and his siblings, Noel (Michelle) Paxton of Erie, Sarah (Dr. Paul) Lucus of Lake in the Hills, Nathaniel (Darci) Paxton of Portsmouth, Iowa, Brett (Stephanie) Paxton of Annawan, Eric (Teresa) Paxton of Cordova, Nicholas (Bethany) Paxton of Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania, and Alexander Paxton of Hillsdale. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harry and Fern Vershaw; and paternal grandparents, William and Hazel Paxton. Tony perished in a motor vehicle accident with his bonus son, Alexander Bloodgood; and Alex's mother, Kristin Bloodgood. Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, 616 Main St., Erie. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made to the family.
