Mary (nee Parham) Beard
Mary A. Beard (nee Parham), 76, a resident of Elyria since 1961 moving from New Jersey, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake following a brief illness. She was born June 1, 1942 in Richmond, Virginia.
Mary was employed in the Ejection Technician Department at the GM Fisher Guide Plant in Elyria for 18 years. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Elyria and served as President of the Elyria Club of Negro Business and Professional Women, Inc. She created and sold dolls and many exclusive items around the country through her business, The Corner Shop. Mary and her family also traveled around the United States and other countries.
Mrs. Beard is survived by her husband of 42 years, Curtis; children, Carol Ann (Cornelius) Cartharn of Georgia, Tony (Brenda) Lawrence of Lorain, Tyvina Lawrence of Georgia, Sharon Lawrence of Elyria, Javona Lawrence of Florida, Timothy Beard of Elyria; foster children Larry Bowie of Elyria, William Jackson of Georgia, and Bianca (Joseph) Shropshire; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Richard (Sharon) Parham and Herbert (Sarah) Parham.
She was preceded in death by two children John Lawrence III and Vertina Ellery; mother Augusta Henderson; first husband John Lawrence II.
Friends may call 10am-12pm Tuesday, June 12 at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria. Funeral service will begin at noon with Reverend Charles Diedrick, Pastor of St. Mary Church, Elyria officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. A reception in Mrs. Beard's memory will follow at St. Mary Church in Elyria.
