M. Lucretia Hinton
MONTICELLO, Mo. -- Mrs. M. Lucretia Hinton, 90, of Monticello, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton. She was born Sept. 1, 1927, near Gregory Landing in Clark County, a daughter of Thomas C. and Mary Johnston Reed. She married Paul I. Hinton on June 3, 1945, in Pineville, La., where he was stationed in the U.S. Army at Camp Livingston, La. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2004. Lucretia attended Gravel Hill School until the family moved to Monticello when she was in the fifth grade. She graduated valedictorian from Monticello High School in 1945 and later attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Ill. Mrs. Hinton joined Bunker Hill Christian Church and later moved her membership to Monticello Christian Church. She was a 50-year member and past worthy matron of Monticello Eastern Star No. 383. She was a member of the Monticello Federated Club, Monticello Extension Club, was a 4-H leader and worked as an election judge for many years. She was employed by the Lewis County R.E.C. for 34 years before retiring in 1998. She is survived by a son, Craig A. Hinton and wife, Norene, of Canton; two daughters, Paula Schnitzer and husband, Carroll, of Louisiana, Mo., and Karen Scott and husband, Romarios, of Woodridge, Ill.; four grandsons, Sean (Courtney) Schnitzer of Hurley, Miss., Bradley (Bethany) Schnitzer of Bowling Green, Aaron (Kelli) Hinton of Canton and Ike Hinton and Heather Job of Canton; nine great-grandchildren, Blaise and Madelyn Hinton, Derek Gunther, Sadie and Khloe Hinton, Abygale, Alyson, Landon and Bryson Schnitzer; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Eric B. Hinton; two brothers; and one sister. SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, at Arnold's Funeral Home in Canton, with the Rev. Carolyn Leaver conducting. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sean Schnitzer, Bradley Schnitzer, Aaron Hinton, Ike Hinton, Blaise Hinton and Norris Hinton. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at Arnold's Funeral Home in Canton. MEMORIALS: Monticello Methodist Church, Lewis County Nursing Home or the donor's choice.
