In memory of
Robert Gunn
Gunn, Robert It is with great sadness the family of Robert Conner Gunn or Bob, as friends knew him announce he passed away peacefully on Sunday May 27 in the morning. He had suffered from Stage Four Prostate Cancer. He would have been 80 years old this August. Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan to Mary and Conner Gunn. Bob graduated from Redford High School and went on to meet his wife of 58 years, Leah Gunn, at the University of Michigan, where he earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology. In 1960 he began his career working at the VA Hospital, as a student and stayed there until he retired in 1994. Bob helped patients from World War I to Desert Storm. Throughout his career he enjoyed mentoring students studying for their PhD's in Psychology at the U of M. He also enjoyed giving back to the community. He served as the President of the Michigan Chapter of the American Cancer Society as well as enjoyed his work with the Friends of the Library at the Ann Arbor District Library. When he was not working Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, playing tennis, doing crossword puzzles, playing piano and writing poetry and limericks, as he had a witty sense of humor! Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Leah and his children, Meg (Brian), Linda (Doug), his grandchildren Katie and Madeline, his sisters-in-law, Harriet and Lucia and nephew, Miguel. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the summer in Ann Arbor. Memorial Donations in memory of Bob may be made to The Friends of the Ann Arbor District Library, the website to donate is www.faadl.org or the mailing address is 343 S 5th Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
