Lavine Blakeslee Corpus Christi, TX Lavine Blakeslee passed away May 12, 2018. She was born May 27, 1924 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Frank George, Senior and Alvina Hasse Engels. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Edward Blakeslee, her parents and her brother Frank George Engels, Jr. She is survived by her brother Eugene Engels; her daughter Julane Tolbert; her son David Blakeslee, and his wife Shirley. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Lavine was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed a life-long love of playing bridge, which she played well into her nineties. Lavine was proud to be the daughter of a pioneering farm family in Nueces County. She was widely known for her delightful sense of humor, which she shared with everyone with whom she came in contact all the days of her long life. She never met a stranger. Lavine graduated from Texas A&I University and taught in elementary schools in the Corpus Christi area for 17 years. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in support of Alzheimer's disease research, or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm with the Funeral Service to start at 2:00 pm in the chapel.
