Eleanor T. Keeley, 92 Lifelong Rosebank resident was the 'hot lunch lady' at school Eleanor T. Keeley (nee Oakes) died peacefully in her home on Sunday, May 13 2018. Born June 2, 1925, Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Rosebank and spent the last 67 years in the house built by her husband and family on School Road. Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, James J.; her parents, William and Grace Oakes; siblings, Genevieve Hemmes (late Robert), Grace Hambley (late Robert), Dorothy DeSio, and William Oakes (Shirley); son-in-law, Robert Post; and beloved niece, Nancy Walsh (Daniel). Eleanor attended St. Mary's Catholic School and New Dorp High School. She started her career as a secretary at Barclays Bank in Manhattan, then became a homemaker and kept an eye on her children as hot lunch lady for the Archdiocese of New York at St. Mary's, St. Teresa's and St. Paul's Schools. Eleanor was the mother of Eleanor Post-Warner (Ed) of Atlanta, Ga., and William (Susanne) of Evanston, Ill.; grandmother of Lauren and James Keeley and Lindsey Haggerty (John); great-aunt of Heather Herbert (Michael), Daniel Walsh (Karen) and Timothy Walsh (Meghan); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her caring friend, Georgina Ramon, Eleanor will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Charities of Staten Island, mountloretto.com , or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org in memory of Nancy Walsh. Visitation will be at Harmon's Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Catholic services will be held at St. Joseph's Church on Thursday, May 17, at 10 a.m., followed by burial at St. Peter's Cemetery.
