JOSEPH ABBATE
Joseph Abbate Joseph Abbate, born on Aug. 7, 1952, in Staten Island, N.Y., to Alda and the late Dominick Abbate, passed away peacefully at age 65 on April 23, 2018. Mr. Abbate was a management analyst for the U.S. Department of the Army and had been retired for the past 19 years. Joseph had a passion for painting and meteorology. We will all miss his weather reports. Joe was always true, reliable and loyal to his family and friends. He is survived by his life partner, Brian Gittins; mother, Alda Abbate of Staten Island; his brother, Richard, and sister in-law, Rosemarie Abbate. He was the beloved uncle of Dominick and Richard Abbate of Cooperstown, N.Y., and Christopher, Stephen, Vito and Joseph Funari of Pennsylvania. Family and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Church, 53 St. Patrick's Pl., Staten Island, N.Y. 10306.
