In memory of
Dominic J. Acciarito, 95 WWII Navy veteran Dominic Acciarito, age 95, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018. He was born on Feb. 28, 1923, in lower Manhattan and moved to Staten Island, where he lived for more than 50 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He worked for over 30 years with the Sandy Hook Pilots as a chief engineer, and later worked as an engineer for the Staten Island Ferry before retiring. Dominic loved the mountains, as he worked so many years at sea. During his free time, he enjoyed visiting his grandchildren, going on short trips and keeping busy around the house. He enjoyed the outdoors and good Italian food. Most of all, he adored his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Bibiana; daughter, JoAnn and her husband, Marco; son, Richard and his wife, Lorie; and six grandchildren, Spencer, Juliette, Wesley, Amelia, Nico and Adeline. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Casey Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa's Church, Staten Island, on Wednesday, April 18, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven in East Hanover, N.J.
