In memory of
Sally Lou (Avery) Humphery
REED CITY -- Sally Lou (Avery) Humphery passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2018, at the Reed City Fields Assisted Living Center, with her family by her side. She was 79 years old. She was born Nov. 21, 1938, to Ora and Evelyn Maxine (Bradford) Avery at the home of Jesse and Elsie Bradford. She was a former resident of Lansing and retired in 1996, after 35 years of employment with the State of Michigan, to return to Nirvana to care for her ailing mother. Sally enjoyed working in the outdoors in her flower gardens and watching the birds and wildlife. Her kitchen table would often display a fresh bouquet of flowers during the warmer months. Her dogs were some of her best friends and she loved the many that she cared for over the years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed making crewel embroidery projects, many which decorate her home. Sally's family would like to thank the staff of Reed City Fields Assisted Living Center and Spectrum Health Hospice for their care and professionalism during her brief stay. She is survived by her sisters, Judy Shinn, Mary Moffitt and Rebecca (Ken) Cook; her brother, Bryce (Anne) Avery; and many nieces and nephews who she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and E. Maxine Avery; and her husband, Jack Humphery. A memorial time of sharing with the family will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home with Chaplain Dan Pflug officiating a prayer service. A private burial will take place at the Cherry Valley Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in her name to the Baldwin Pathfinder Library or to the American Cancer Society.
