Alex Schachter died February 14, 2018 in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. He was 14. Alex was a freshman trombone and baritone player with the school's marching band and orchestra. The Sun-Sentinel quoted the school's director of bands, Alexander Kaminsky: "I felt he really had a bright future on the trombone." The Miami Herald quoted the Congregation Beth Am in Longwood on Facebook: "We pray for all the families who were affected by yesterday's school shooting, including friends of our Beth Am Community." Legacy mourns all those who died at Stoneman Douglas .
