Francis S. Winger II
Francis S. Winger II, 24, of Hellertown, unexpectedly passed away Monday morning. Born in Allentown, he was the son of Francis S. Winger, Allentown, and Gina M. Piazza, Hellertown. He was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, class of 2012, where he was the captain of the Scholastic Scrimmage team. He received his BBA in business management from Marywood University, where he was the VP of the commuter council. Frank won multiple digital media awards, along with leading his team to first place in the Northeast PA Business Plan competition in 2014. He founded Astronomical Products, where he spearheaded the development of Late-Skate. He was the co-founder of Far Productions, the company responsible for College SnowJam; now taking place in his honor this Saturday at Montage Mountain in Scranton. He was employed as a project manager with Clear Channel Airports. He was also an Eagle Scout from Troop 439, where he was called to be the senior patrol leader of his contingency at the 100th anniversary National Boy Scout Jamboree, and an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. Frank was a loving and caring son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He was charismatic, energetic and spontaneous. He was extremely driven, especially when it came to business ventures. Also surviving are his two brothers, Matthew, Sheppard AFB, Texas; and Joseph, Hellertown; his paternal grandmother, Catherine "Kitsy" Winger; grand-aunts, grand-uncles, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jack Winger, and maternal grandparents, Anthony and JoAnn Piazza. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton, by the Rev. Scott P. Sterowski, pastor of St. Paul of the Cross Parish. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at the Nicholas Chomko Funeral Home, 1132 Prospect Ave., South Scranton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to To Write Love On Her Arms ( https://twloha.com/ ) Those attending the funeral Monday are asked to go directly to the church.
