Lorraine Ruth King
Lorraine Ruth King, 79, of Huntington passed away peacefully at home on January 22nd, surrounded by family. Lori was born in Westfield on December 11, 1938 to Malcolm and Norma McKinney. After graduation from Huntington High School, Lori served in the U.S. Navy. Following the service, she assisted her mother in running Norwich Lake Farm until her brother Wayne's return from service in the US Marine Corps. During this time, she met Gene and his 5 children. After a two year courtship, they were married and continued to run the farm with Wayne. Besides spending time with family, Lori's passions included gardening, square and round dancing, and camping. She also enjoyed watching the many different birds that frequented her feeders. She received many compliments on her beautiful flower gardens throughout the yard. Lori will be greatly missed by her husband of 42 years, Eugene F. King, as well as her brothers, Wayne of Huntington, and Bruce (Ellen) of Stanwood, WA., her children Michael (Lynn) of Gainesville, FL., Patrick (Karen) of Westfield, Jeffrey (Mary) of Littleton, CO, Donna Lawrence (Frank) of Easthampton, Steven T. of Huntington, Steven C. of Russell, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and extended family Delcy and Greg Newell. Lori was predeceased by two younger sisters, Myrna and Kathy, and a younger brother Malcolm Jr.. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. The family would like to thank Baystate Hospice for their compassionate care during Lori's illness. Memorial contributions can be made in Lori's name to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA, 01104.
