Margaret R. "Peggy" Crane
Margaret "Peggy" R. Crane Attica - Margaret "Peggy" R. (Bowlus) Crane, 87, Attica, passed away at her home, with her daughter by her side, on Friday, January 12, 2017 at 12:20 p.m. Peggy was born in Williamsport, Indiana on July 27, 1930. She was the daughter of the late James Blaine and Carrie (Butts) Bowlus. She was raised and educated in Williamsport. She moved to rural Attica in 1948. Peggy was a homemaker and also did cleaning of the nearby schools. Her pastimes included ceramics, yard work and gardening. A big part of Peggy's life was spent outdoors where she liked to raise and ride her quarter horses. She spent a lot of her time assisting her children with 4-H projects and showing the horses. She was meticulous on how her yard would look and enjoyed spending time manicuring her lawn. In the early 60's she served as a girl scout leader. She was generous with her time and enjoyed helping others. On June 18, 1948, Peggy married Leo "Shorty" Frederick Crane in Attica. Leo preceded her in deathon March 24, 2010. Peggy leaves behind her daughter, Cheryl Wurtsbaugh (fiancé-Steve Ray), Attica; a son, James Lewis (Debbie) Crane, Clarks Hill, IN; a grandson, Steve (Kimberly) Wurtsbaugh, Selma, IN; three granddaughters, Brenda (Shawn) Alkire, Dayton; Chris (Shane) Kerkhove, West Lafayette and Candy (Matt) Franklin, Dayton; six great-granddaughters and a great-grandson; a sister, Pat Hunter, Williamsport; a sister-in-law, Rose Bowlus, Williamsport. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Charles Bowlus along with a sister, Elizabeth Lilly. Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, January 19th, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rich Stoll officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. The family would like to take this time to thank Great Lakes Hospice Care for the kindness and care that was given to Peggy.
