Lorraine Soletti, 85 Retired NYC school teacher Lorraine Soletti, 85, a retired public school teacher, died Monday. Lorraine was born and raised in Boro Park, Brooklyn, where she lived with her parents, Peter and Victoria Caruso, and her brother, Ralph, and sister, Rosemarie. She graduated with an MBA from NYU and went on to teach at Dyker Heights Intermediate school. She spent the better part of 30 years teaching Home economics in the specific area of sewing. Mrs. Soletti was predeceased by her husband, William, who died two years ago. They settled in Great Kills together in 1970 and were married for 45 years. Lorraine loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending summer vacations with her husband, Bill, on the Jersey Shore. Lorraine had many hobbies which included projects with stained glass, pottery and wood. She also loved sewing and going to estate sales, where she would buy antiques which she kept as treasures in her home. Lorraine was a parishioner of St. Clare's R.C church, Great Kills. She also served as a Eucharistic minister for St. Clare's. Lorraine is survived by her sons, William, Robert, Ralph, John, Joseph, and Tony: her daughters, Patricia Mcintire, Nancy Soletti and Maria McCauley; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey-McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Clare's church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains. Viewing will be on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Casey-McCallum Rice.
