Betty Lou Hunt
Betty Lou Hunt Betty Lou Hunt, of Upper Lake, born September 20th, 1925, passed away December 23, 2017 in Lakeport, CA. She was 92 years old. Betty lived the majority of her life in Upper Lake, where she held numerous jobs in the community including manually operating a switchboard for the telephone company, and cashier at both Hi-Way Grocery and Upper Lake Pharmacy. She was a familiar face at Robinson Rancheria Casino where she assembled Bingo packs. Through the family logging business, Betty spent several months of the year in rural Mendocino County logging camps with her husband George and family. Betty enjoyed many things in her life including time with family, talking politics, playing cards with friends, traveling, gambling, jigsaw puzzles, watching television, especially The Price is Right, Fox News, football, and NASCAR. She was a big Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, George; her mother, Eunice Pekkela; and sister, Florence Gardner. She is survived by her son, James (Gloria); daughter, Georgine; grandchildren, Jason (Heather), Michael, Brian (Christy), David (Teresa), and Sandy; great-grandchildren, Danny, Nevaeh, Abby, Elizabeth, Laura, Emily, Megan, and Sandrina; and great-great-granddaughter, Austin Grace; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Betty will be missed by all who knew her. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at the Upper Lake Grange Hall, located at 9355 Government Street, Upper Lake, on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 1 p.m. This will be a potluck-style lunch.
