In memory of
Nona Gautreau Lamendola
Our beloved mother, Nona Gautreau Lamendola, peacefully passed away on December 21st, 2017, at the age of 89 years. Nona was born January 27th, 1928 and was a life time resident of Gonzales, La, where she was the heart and soul of the Lamendola family. She was a graduate from Gonzales High School in 1945, where she was awarded the American Legion Award. As a businesswoman, Nona contributed to the growth of Lamendola's Supermarket, but her true joy in life was her children. She loved cooking and caring for her family. Nona had a loving and sweet disposition and a way of making everyone feel special. A beacon in the dark for so many people. A pair of welcoming arms with a loving hug for all. Nona loved the beach and would spend hours walking the surf collecting shells. She could often be found night fishing from the old Pensacola Bridge and found peace listening to the surf. She belonged to the Sweet Adeline singing group, studied the bible and cultivated exotic plants in her greenhouse. Her beautiful smile and sweet disposition will be missed by many. She taught us the true meaning of love through example , by the way she gave of herself. She was preceeded by parents David and Agnes (Bourgeois) Gautreau. The only daughter of David and Agnes. She is survived by her husband N.A. "Sonny" Lamendola and her brother Jewel Gautreaux. Children: Craig Lamendola, Blair Lamendola, Jill Wall, William "Bill" Lamendola and Jan Banks. Grandchildren: Angela (Bart) Breaux, Alicia (John) Wild, Dr. Eva (Brad) Yarbrough, Daphne (Jon) Brazzel, Dr. Louie-Lee Lamendola, Dr. Oleana (Michael) Dick, Jeana Banks and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Agnes Gautreau and her brothers Leon, Ira, Gonnie and Gay. Nona often said "give me flowers while I'm alive not when I die". Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers. A special thank you to the entire staff and loving caretakers at Gonzales Health Center. Memorial service to be held at Household of Faith, Airline Hwy., Gonzales, January 2nd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Services conducted by her Godson, Pastor Blake Melancon. Arrangements by Church Funeral Services & Crematory, St. Amant 225-644-9683 www.churchfuneralservices.com
