Emma Demaris "Dee" (Gardner) Schamberger
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 - Dee Schamberger of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2017 at Liberty Community Living Center in Liberty, MS. after a brief illness. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, MS. from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Visitation will resume Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, at the church. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Dee was born on January 18, 1929 at home in Liberty to Prentiss and Laura Gardner. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had a servant's heart and a passion for helping others. Before retiring she was a hair stylist and owned her own salon. She handled her less than perfect life with humor, dignity and grace. Dee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Schamberger, her former husband and her children's father, Smith McDaniel; four brothers, Paul, Maurice, and Walter (Preacher) Gardner of Magnolia, MS. and Roy Gardner of Natchez, MS. ; one sister, Mildred Mauroner of Hammond. She is survived by her daughters, Tommie Dee McDaniel Otts, Terrie McDaniel Kirkland and spouse Charles (Smiley) of Liberty, MS. and Betty McDaniel Prestridge and spouse John of Baton Rouge; one step-son George Edward Schamberger and spouse Jean of Ocean Springs, MS. She had nine grandchildren, Kelle and Ben Prestridge, Robin Otts Parker, Deana Cupid Dunaway, Katie Cupid , Clay Kirkland, Katherine Schamberger Schroeder, George and Scott Schamberger; fifteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Prestridge, Smiley Kirkland, Cris Dunaway, Randy Parker, Brendan Parker, and Clay Kirkland. Honorary pallbearers are Ben Prestridge andNick Prestridge. She was a long-time member of New Life Church in Baton Rouge, LA.
