In Loving Memory of Al Colanero
Al Colanero, 71, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017, after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 22, 2017, at Saint Pius the Tenth Catholic Church, 2210 North Elm Street. Al was born April 15, 1946, in Flushing, New York, son of the late Alfred and Rena Colanero. He graduated from St. John's University where he received his Bachelor's Degree. He then received his law degree from Toro Law School in Long Island, New York. Al was extremely proud of being a police officer and detective. He was also a teacher, social worker, Boy Scout Leader, Captain of the Volunteer Fire Department and practiced general law in Greensboro. Most recently, Al was a farmer. He was a member of Saint Pius the Tenth Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Colanero is survived by his wife, Mary M. Colanero; children, Alfred T. Colanero, Regina Colanero, Michael Colanero and wife Randi Love all of Long Island, Rachel Webster and husband, Cameron of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Theresa Colanero, Jacob Colanero, Julia Colanero, Annabelle Webster. Brother, Raymond Colanero and wife, Susan of New Jersey; one niece and nephew. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the members of Saint Pius the Tenth Catholic Church for the prayers and ongoing support and they are also grateful to the staff of John's Hopkins Hospital and Wake Forest cancer centers for the care Al received. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Al's memory may be made to Saint Pius the Tenth Catholic Church, Building Fund, 2210 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27408.
