Barbara A. DeAngelis, 78 Devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many Barbara A. DeAngelis, 78, died on Nov. 9, 2017, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Barbara was best known for her classy sense of style, design ability, decorating ideas and love of animals. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially celebrating occasions and holidays. She spent her time taking courses at the JCC, caring for a friend at Carmel Richmond Nursing Home, caring for stray animals, and painting and drawing. Barbara's friends describe her as giving, fun-loving and someone who would go out of her way for others. She constantly spoke of her children and grandchildren and how proud she was of them. She was still working as a matron for the 21st Ave School Bus up until the time she was hospitalized this September. She truly loved the special education students she cared for on the bus and spoke of them often. Barbara is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deirdre DeAngelis-D'Alessio and Edward D'Alessio; daughter, Denise Vispisiano; son, Joseph DeAngelis III; granddaughter, Allison Cipriano; grandsons, Joseph Ramirez, John Vispisiano, Franklin DeAngelis and Andrew D'Alessio; and great-grandchild, Joseph Ramirez Jr. In keeping with Barbara's wishes, a church service was held on Nov. 11, 2017. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her name.
