Dale R. Latten
LITTLE GENESEE - Dale R. Latten, of Willow Brook Road, Little Genesee, passed away Saturday (Sept. 30, 2017) at Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a brief illness. Born July 29, 1940, in Eldred, Pa., he was the son of the late Lewis and Sarah Elmer Latten. He was a graduate of Portville Central School, Class of 1959. He retired from Portville Central School after 33 years, and drove the van for Carrier Coach for many years. Dale was a life member of the Portville and Bolivar Fire Departments. He was also a life member of the Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen, where he was a past recipient of the Southwestern Association Fireman of the Year. He was a long-time member of the Allegany County Fire Police Association, where he served as president for many years. He will be especially missed by his granddaughter, Kate, and their morning breakfasts. Survivors include his children, Jeffrey (Valerie) Latten of Portville, Thomas (Tracey) Latten of Olean, Dennis (Kimberly) Latten of Clarksville and David Latten of Portville; ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Lewis and Alfred. Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 4, 2017) at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 5, 2017) in the funeral home. Chaplain Terry Bush will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville. Memorials may be made to the Portville Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Artie Skroback, PO Box 781, Portville NY, 14770.
