Robert E. Frees
Robert E. Bob' Frees May 23, 1926 - September 2, 2017 Rancho Santa Fe Bob was born to Emil and Alison Frees at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles. A veteran of World II, he served in the United States Navy for two years before attending Whittier College, from which he graduated earning his teaching credential and subsequently a Master of Arts in Education degree. An outstanding teacher, mentor, and coach, he taught at Bell Gardens Junior High and Montebello Senior High Schools for 37 years, the final sixteen of which he served as Athletic Director. Bob is survived by his wife, Ruthe, sister Margaret, four children three sons, Michael of Leyden, MA, Scott of Whittier, Lee of Mammoth Lakes, and one daughter, Tracy Greenwood of the Yosemite area, nine grandchildren, Taylor, Benjamin (deceased), Alexander, Gabriel, Megan, Bryce, Sarah, Smoky, and Dylon, and seven great-grandchildren, Ezelle, Anora, Casey, Kaleb, Kairee, Leo, and Darby. Avid lovers of the sport of tennis, Bob and Ruthe were "regulars" at Los Caballeros and Morgan Run Tennis Clubs for a great many years. As participants in the Senior Olympics Program, they were gold medal winners in international competition. A 10:00 A.M. memorial service is slated for October 21, 2017, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Del Mar Ward, at 12701 Torrey Bluff Drive, San Diego.
