In memory of
Elizabeth Meyer
Elizabeth (Tepe) Meyer of Newton Centre and Marion, MA died on June 13, 2017 following a stroke. She was 68. Her last days were filled with happiness and adventure cruising the Atlantic. Liza was the daughter of the late John B. and Jeanne S. Tepe. She grew up in Wilmington, DE where she attended Tower Hill School. At Briarcliff College her studies reflected her wide range of interests and creativity. She met her brother's college roommate in 1966 and they were married in 1971. Her illustration of three books on needlepoint in her 20s demonstrated her interests in both art and stitchery. An active parent and community servant, she was formerly head of the parents' council at Noble and Greenough School, Secretary of Island Associates of Marion and a surgical liaison at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Over the years, she also served in a number of positions at the Parish of St. Paul in Newton Highlands, including chair of the Christmas Fair, co-chair of the Outreach and Knitting Ministries and member of the altar guild. Her radiant smile, affable personality and quick wit had an uncanny ability to make people feel comfortable around her. Her creativity and unfailingly positivity inspired all she met. She was universally beloved by countless friends and acquaintances and adored by her husband, sons, family members and close friends. She is survived by her husband, J. Christopher Meyer, III; her son John C. (Woody) Meyer, his wife Beth Ellen Meyer and her grandchildren JC and Maxwell Meyer of Mattawan, MI; her son Alexander W. Meyer and his wife Elizabeth M. Greene of London, ONT; and brothers John B. Tepe Jr. of Wilmington, DE and Nicholas A. Tepe of Bingham Farms, MI. In addition, she was loved by in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families, to say nothing of her basset hound, Puck. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, August 12 at 10 am at St. Gabriel's Church in Marion, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to one of her favorite charities: Epiphany School, 154 Centre St., Dorchester, MA 02124 or Friends of St. Stephens Youth Programs, 31 Lenox St., Boston, MA 02118.
