Olga E. Despotakis
Olga E. Papas Despotakis, 79, of Hyde Park, went home to our lord Wednesday, May 17, 2017. She was born March 15, 1938, to William E. Papas and Sophia (Mazarik) Papas, in North Vandergrift. Olga attended Vandergrift and Oakridge (Tennessee) High Schools. She worked as a secretary for Kiski Area School District for more than 30 years, retiring in 2005. She was a member of the Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church in Oakmont. She is survived by her three children, Sophia Gabler (Carl Becker), of Monroeville, Anthony L. Despotakis (Mary), of Allegheny Township, and Sylvia Dupaly (Edward), of Plum; and a sister, Lillian Pappas, of Knoxville, Tenn. Her greatest love was her three grandchildren, Terrence and Nicholas Despotakis, of Allegheny Township, and Elena Dupaly, of Plum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Lefteri A. "Lefty" Despotakis; a sister, Annette (Tuss) Saittis; a brother, Emanuel Papas; a son-in-law, Harry Gabler; and a granddaughter, Hope Christina Dupaly. Friends welcomed by her family from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, 12 Washington Ave., Oakmont, with the Very Rev. Father Polycarp Rameas, officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenwood Mausoleum, 104 Melwood Road, Lower Burrell. CLAWSON FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTER, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, is entrusted with the arrangements.
