GRANVILLE - Ruth (Davis) Newton passed away April 30, 2017, in New Bern, NC. Ruth was born in South Hero, VT, on July 2, 1919. Ruth graduated from the University of Vermont in 1941. She and her husband, Merritt Newton, ran the Christmas Tree Lodge in Granville, VT, for 50 years. Ruth found happiness in every day. She loved music, people and the adventure of travel. Ruth is survived by her children, Joan Magiera and partner Jesse, David Newton and wife Kathleen, Robert Newton and wife Michele, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at The Federated Church of Rochester, VT, on Aug. 19 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Rochester Public Library at P.O.
